World Health Day 2026 – Panel Discussion on Mental Health Awareness

On the occasion of World Health Day 2026, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, successfully organised a Panel Discussion on "Mental Health Awareness in Today's Society: Role of Nurses" on Wednesday, 8th April 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Seminar Hall. The programme was conducted by 5th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students.

About the Panel Discussion

The session began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Ankita (3rd Semester), who served as the moderator and emphasised the importance of mental health as an integral part of overall well-being.

The panel discussion featured insightful presentations by student panelists on four key themes:

  • Mr. Rakesh (5th Semester) — Understanding Mental Health
  • Ms. Varsha (5th Semester) — Causes of Mental Health Issues
  • Ms. Vandana (7th Semester) — Effects of Mental Health Problems
  • Mr. Muttappa (7th Semester) — Prevention and Role of Nurses

The speakers highlighted key aspects such as the causes, effects, early identification of mental health problems, and the crucial role nurses play in promoting mental health awareness and providing compassionate care to those in need.

Audience Interaction & Principal's Address

An interactive session followed, where the audience actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views, making the discussion engaging, thought-provoking, and informative. The programme concluded with a brief summary by the moderator, stressing the importance of awareness, timely support, and collective responsibility in addressing mental health issues.

Principal Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli addressed the gathering with inspiring words, encouraging students to actively contribute towards mental health awareness in society and apply their nursing skills to support those experiencing mental health challenges.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Sushmita (5th Semester), expressing gratitude to all participants and organisers.

Learning Outcomes

The panel discussion on World Health Day 2026 successfully created awareness about the significance of mental health in today's society. It equipped nursing students with deeper insights into the causes and effects of mental health problems, the importance of early identification, and the vital role nurses can play in promoting mental well-being and providing holistic patient care.
