National Girl Child Day – Awareness Skit 2024

National Girl Child Day Awareness Skit 2024 | BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi

January 24, 2024 Tungal Hospital, Jamkhandi Events

On January 24, 2024, first-semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, conducted an awareness skit at Tungal Hospital, Jamkhandi, for ANC and PNC mothers in observance of National Girl Child Day. The program highlighted girl child rights, addressed gender bias, and emphasized the importance of girl child education. Approximately 32 mothers attended and benefited from the program, which was coordinated by Mrs. Rajeshwari Kambi, PG Nursing Tutor, under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal.

Skit Performance

Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, inaugurated the program by emphasising the significance of National Girl Child Day, observed annually on January 24 to raise awareness about the inequalities faced by girls and to promote their rights and welfare in India.

The students then performed a skit that addressed key themes including:

  • Rights of the girl child
  • Gender bias and discrimination in society
  • Importance of girl child education
  • The role of the community in empowering girls

The skit was performed in the waiting area of Tungal Hospital at 3:00 PM, reaching out directly to ANC (Antenatal Care) and PNC (Postnatal Care) mothers — a strategically chosen audience to encourage positive attitudes towards the girl child from the earliest stage of motherhood.

Poster Presentations & Awareness

Alongside the skit, students displayed and presented hand-made awareness posters carrying messages on girl child rights, education, and gender equality. The posters used both visual imagery and slogans — including the widely known quote: "One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world" — to engage the audience in a meaningful and memorable way.

The poster presentations complemented the skit by providing additional information and encouraging the mothers to reflect on their own attitudes towards the girl child. The responses from attendees were highly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the creative and informative approach taken by the students.

Audience Response & Group Photo

The program concluded at 4:00 PM after a lively question-and-answer interaction with the audience. Approximately 32 ANC and PNC mothers attended and responded enthusiastically, commending the students for their effort and the informative content of the program.

The event served as a meaningful tribute to National Girl Child Day, spreading awareness and fostering positive discussions on the rights and education of the girl child. A group photo was taken at the conclusion of the program, bringing together all participants in a spirit of shared purpose.
