Seminar on "Module: Fundamental Principles of Prescribing" 2026
BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, organised a Seminar on "Module: Fundamental Principles of Prescribing" on Monday, 23rd March 2026, at the Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by Dr. Jyoti S. Patil, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, BLDE (Deemed to be University), Vijayapur, providing nursing students with valuable insights into safe and rational prescribing practices.
About the Seminar
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Mahek M, 5th Semester student. Ms. Jyothi Mareguddi, UG Nursing Tutor, introduced the guest speaker and highlighted the relevance of the topic for future nursing professionals.
The session was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, followed by Dr. Jyoti S. Patil's comprehensive lecture on the fundamental principles of prescribing. The session covered key aspects including:
- Importance of rational drug use in clinical practice
- Correct dosage calculation and administration
- Patient safety considerations in prescribing
- Importance of accuracy in prescription writing
- Professional, legal, and ethical issues relevant to prescribing
- Competency-based approach to prescribing for nursing professionals



Presidential Address & Closing Ceremony
In his presidential address, Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, emphasised that prescribing is a very important responsibility in healthcare and requires proper knowledge, accuracy, and a focus on patient safety. He appreciated Dr. Jyoti S. Patil for her valuable session, which helped students develop a thorough understanding of safe and rational prescribing practices.
As a token of appreciation, Dr. B. M. Nuchhi, PG Director, Jamkhandi, presented a memento and certificate to Dr. Jyoti S. Patil on behalf of the institution.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Shivani J, 5th Semester B.Sc. Nursing student.
