International Nurses Day 2024
BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, celebrated International Nurses Day on 14th May 2024 at 12:00 PM in Lecture Hall-1, honouring Florence Nightingale's birth anniversary and recognising the vital role nurses play in healthcare.
Opening
The event began with a prayer song by B.Sc. Nursing students Ms. Usha Pujari and Ms. Kaveri Pujari, followed by a welcome speech and an explanation of the day's significance by Ms. Keerti Halemani and Mrs. Savita Ainapur.


Inauguration
Dr. Vijay Maitri, Consultant Physician, Cardiologist & Diabetologist, Shri Siddhi Vinayak Hospital & Research Center, Jamkhandi; Mrs. Shakuntala Walake, Senior Nursing Officer, Sub Divisional Hospital, Jamkhandi; and Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi — inaugurated the event by lighting of the lamp and showered flower petals on Florence Nightingale's portrait, celebrating her birth anniversary by cutting a cake. Mrs. Shakuntala Walake was honoured for her dedication and service.




Guest Introduction & Felicitation
Mrs. Shivaleela Sarawad introduced the guests, who were then honoured by the Principal and staff.



Speeches
- Chief Guest, Dr. Vijay Maitri spoke about the broad scope of nursing, especially highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the opportunities available both in India and abroad.
- Guest of Honor, Mrs. Shakuntala Walake expressed her gratitude for the recognition and wished the students a happy Nurses Day.
- President of the Function, Dr. Veerabhadrappa Mendagudli emphasized the essential role of nurses in healthcare and praised their efforts during the pandemic.




Awards & Prize Distribution
The Chief Guest & Guest of Honor presented prizes and certificates to the winners of various intercollegiate competitions.





Conclusion
Ms. Samarin Awati announced the prize winners, Mr. Somesh Nikkam gave the vote of thanks, and the programme concluded with the national anthem.
