The Seventh Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, visited Nirani Sugars Factory (MRN Group of Industries), Mudhol, on 27th May 2026 as part of their academic curriculum, gaining practical exposure to occupational health hazards, industrial safety measures, and industrial work practices.

During the visit, students received detailed information regarding various departments and production processes from the following factory officials:

The students gained valuable knowledge across several areas critical to occupational health nursing:

  • Sugar Production: End-to-end processes from raw sugarcane to finished sugar, including milling, boiling, and packaging.
  • Cogeneration Systems: How industrial facilities generate electricity from biomass by-products, reducing waste and energy costs.
  • Distillery Operations: Production of ethanol and by-products, along with associated health and safety protocols.
  • Industrial Safety Measures: Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, accident prevention, and emergency response procedures.
  • Management Practices: Organisational structure, departmental coordination, and workforce health management in a large-scale industry.
