On the occasion of National Eye Donation Week on September 4, 2024, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, organized a Guest Lecture on "Eye Care & Eye Donation Awareness" at its Seminar Hall. Dr. Deepa Udagatti, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Anterior Segment & Phaco-Refractive Surgeon at M.M. Joshi Eye Institute, Jamkhandi, delivered an insightful lecture on eye care and eye donation to 97 students and faculty members.

The program began with a welcome address and introduction of the guest speaker by Mr. Somesh Nikkam, PG Nursing Tutor, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi. The session was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

Dr. Deepa Udagatti, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Anterior Segment & Phaco-Refractive Surgeon at M.M. Joshi Eye Institute, Jamkhandi, delivered an insightful talk on the concepts of eye care and eye donation. She discussed the importance of eye donation, who is eligible to donate eyes, and the procedure involved in eye donation. Students found the session highly informative, gaining awareness about the significance of donating eyes and how this noble act can restore vision for the visually impaired.

After the lecture, Dr. Deepa Udagatti was honoured with a token of gratitude, a memento, and a certificate of appreciation, presented by the Principal, Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli.

In his presidential speech, Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli emphasized the significance of the session and highlighted the role of nursing students in spreading awareness about eye donation. A total of 97 students and faculty members attended the session, finding the lecture highly informative and beneficial.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Karuna, a third-year BSc Nursing student. The event was coordinated by Mr. Somesh Nikkam, PG Nursing Tutor, under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi.
