On the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, organized a Guest Lecture on "Bridging The Gap: Cancer Awareness, Early Detection, and Patient Support" on November 9, 2024, at 11:30 AM in Lecture Hall No. 1. Dr. Krishna Bannad, Medical Officer at Taluka Hospital, Jamkhandi, delivered an insightful lecture on cancer awareness, early detection, and patient support to 144 students and faculty members.

Inauguration & Opening Session

The program commenced with a welcome address and introduction of the guest speaker, Dr. Krishna Bannad, delivered by Mrs. Rajeshwari Kambi, PG Nursing Faculty, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi. The session was officially inaugurated with the lighting of a lamp by the dignitaries, marking the beginning of a meaningful educational event dedicated to cancer awareness.

Dr. Krishna Bannad, Medical Officer at Taluka Hospital, Jamkhandi, gave a comprehensive lecture covering various aspects of cancer, including the theme for the year, the division of tumors, types of cancer, cancer statistics in India, causes, signs and symptoms, warning signs, and the critical importance of early detection. He also addressed cancer prevention methods, treatment modalities, breast cancer awareness, and diagnostic tools, providing the audience with a well-rounded understanding of the disease and its management.

Lecture Session & Closing Ceremony

The lecture was attended by 144 students and faculty members, who found it highly informative and engaging. Dr. Bannad's emphasis on the role of early detection in saving lives resonated strongly with the audience, reinforcing the importance of awareness and timely medical intervention in cancer care.

Following the lecture, Dr. Krishna Bannad was honored with a memento and certificate of appreciation, presented by Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi. In his presidential address, Dr. Mendagudli emphasized the crucial role of early detection in saving lives and the need for widespread cancer awareness across communities.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Keerti Halemani, PG Nursing Tutor. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Rajeshwari Kambi, PG Nursing Faculty, under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi.
