Orientation on Anatomy, Dissection Session, and Physiology Department Visit – BLDE University, Vijayapura
First Semester B.Sc. Nursing students and faculty from BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, visited BLDE (Deemed to be University), Shri B. M. Patil Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Vijayapura, for an enriching four-day Orientation on Anatomy, Dissection Session, and Physiology Department, from 3rd to 6th February 2026. The programme provided a comprehensive, hands-on understanding of human anatomy and physiology, directly strengthening the foundation of nursing practice.
Dissection Session & Anatomy Department
A major highlight of the programme was the hands-on human body dissection session, conducted by Dr. Ravi Bulgouda, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy. He guided the students through the dissection process, explaining the anatomical structures in detail and emphasising their functional relevance, with special focus on the musculoskeletal system and its importance in maintaining human health.
Dr. Mohammad Qureshi, Assistant Professor, Department of Anatomy, enriched the session by explaining the types of bones, their functions, and the cells and tissues involved in bone structure. Dr. Sandhya Yatagiri, Professor, delivered an informative session on the circulatory and nervous systems, helping students understand their structure and physiological significance.
An engaging tour of the Anatomy Museum was conducted by Dr. Vedyavas Kulkarni, PG Student, providing students with a visual and practical understanding of the complexities of the human body through preserved specimens and anatomical models.




Physiology Department Visit
The visit also included a dedicated orientation to the Physiology Department, where Dr. Sandeep Shah, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Vijaykumar K., PG Student, explained the composition of blood, its components, and the microscopic structure of blood cells. The interactive session gave students practical insights into haematological concepts essential to nursing care.
The orientation was conducted under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Mr. Anil Mane, PG Nursing Tutor, and Mrs. Akshata Aralimatti, UG Nursing Tutor, ensuring the smooth conduct of all sessions across the four days.
Overall, the orientation proved to be a valuable educational experience, deepening students' and faculty's understanding of human anatomy, dissection techniques, and physiology, and their direct relevance to evidence-based nursing practice.
