RGUHS Kalaburagi Zone Chess (Men & Women) Tournament 2024 | BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi

On August 23 & 24, 2024, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, proudly hosted the RGUHS-Kalaburagi Zone Chess (Men & Women) Tournament 2024 at the historic Darbar Hall on the BLDEA Campus. The tournament, conducted under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, brought together 21 men's teams and 11 women's teams from health sciences colleges across the Kalaburagi Zone, promoting sportsmanship and academic collaboration.

Inauguration & Opening Ceremony

The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Kaddlimatti, Principal of BLDEA's AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Vijayapura. Distinguished guests included Prof. S. H. Lagali, Administrative Officer of BLDEA's Jamkhandi; Shri A. M. Shaha, Chairman of the College Development Committee, BLDE Association, Jamkhandi; and Dr. Veerabhadrappa Mendagudli, Principal of BLDEA's College of Nursing, Jamkhandi.

The ceremony commenced with a prayer song performed by Ms. Usha Pujari and Ms. Kaveri Pujari, followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries. The Master of Ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Shivaleela Sarawad, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Keerti Halemani, PG Nursing Tutor, BLDEA's College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, along with Mr. Shrinivas Kattimani, Assistant Professor, BLDEA's Degree College, Jamkhandi.

Tournament in Progress

The two-day tournament saw intense and spirited competition across both categories. A total of 21 men's teams and 11 women's teams from various health sciences colleges affiliated with RGUHS, Karnataka, competed across multiple rounds at the Darbar Hall. The event was overseen by Shri I. S. Nyamagond and Shri K. M. Shirhatti, Physical Education Directors of BLDEA's College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, and coordinated with Shri H. C. Pawar, Sports Coordinator, RGUHS Kalaburagi Zone.

Prize Distribution & Valedictory

The valedictory program and prize distribution ceremony were held on August 24, 2024, at 4:30 PM. Prizes and certificates were distributed by Shri Vilas Bagali, Administrative Officer, BLDEA's Vijayapura; Prof. S. H. Lagali, Administrative Officer, BLDEA's Jamkhandi; Shri S. S. Kori, Director of Physical Education, BLDEA's Vijayapura; Dr. P. D. Pol, Principal, BLDEA's Degree College; and Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA's College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, along with Shri I. S. Nyamagound and Shri K. M. Shirhatti.

  • Runner-Up: Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Koppal
  • Third Place: Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Kalaburagi
  • Fourth Place: Navodaya Medical College, Raichur
Women's Category
  • Winner: S.V.M Ayurvedic Medical College & R.P. Karadi Ayurvedic Hospital, Ilkal
  • Runner-Up: BLDEA's AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Hospital & Research Centre, Vijayapura
  • Third Place: Dr. Gurachar Nargund College of Pharmacy, Muradi
  • Fourth Place: BLDEA's College of Nursing, Jamkhandi

Overall, the RGUHS-Kalaburagi Zone Chess Tournament 2024 was a resounding success, reflecting the dedication of everyone involved and reinforcing BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi's commitment to fostering sportsmanship and academic collaboration among health sciences institutions.
