Educational Visit to Primary Health Centre (PHC), Konnur – Seventh Semester B.Sc. Nursing Students 2026
On 1st June 2026, the Seventh Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Konnur, as part of their Community Health Nursing curriculum. The visit offered students direct exposure to primary healthcare services, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical field experience in community health settings.
Visit to PHC, Konnur
The students were accompanied by Mrs. Shivaleela Sarawad, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Shashikala Mudhol, UG Nursing Tutor. Upon arrival at the PHC, Mrs. Vijayalaxmi, Community Health Officer, provided a comprehensive orientation on the functioning and scope of the PHC. The orientation covered key aspects including:
- Population coverage of the PHC
- Functions and services provided by the PHC
- Staffing pattern
- Maintenance of records and reports
- National Health Programmes implemented at the PHC


Department Visits & Field Exposure
Following the orientation, students conducted a thorough visit to the various departments of the PHC, gaining hands-on exposure to primary healthcare service delivery. The departments visited included the Outpatient Department (OPD), Immunization Room, Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Labour Room.
This practical exposure enabled students to observe the day-to-day functioning of a primary health centre, understand the roles and responsibilities of community health personnel, and appreciate the significance of National Health Programmes in delivering preventive and promotive healthcare at the grassroots level.
The educational visit was coordinated by the faculty under the overall guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi. The visit served as a valuable hands-on learning experience, effectively bridging theoretical knowledge with field practice and enhancing students' understanding of community healthcare services.
