On 22 July 2026, the Seventh Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, visited Jain Vrudhrashram, Jamkhandi, and organised a Geriatric and Mental Health Screening Camp along with therapeutic and recreational activities for the elderly residents.

The programme started with an orientation session by Mrs. Preeti Gudedmani, President of Jain Vrudhrashram, who explained the objectives, admission process, and services available at the old age home. The health screening camp was inaugurated by Dr. Veerabhadrappa Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing.

The students examined the health of the elderly residents. Based on the assessment, medicines such as multivitamin tablets, calcium tablets, and joint pain ointments were distributed. Sterile wound dressings were also provided to residents who required them. As part of the programme, students Ms. Laxmi M., Ms. Sahana, and Ms. Savitha conducted health education sessions on healthy lifestyle, prevention and management of hypertension and diabetes, regular exercise, balanced diet, adequate rest, and proper sleep.

The students also presented a comedy skit, songs, and dance performances. More than eight elderly residents enthusiastically joined the students by singing and dancing, making the programme lively and enjoyable. The residents appreciated the students for their care, love, and service.

The Seventh Semester B.Sc. Nursing students also prepared and served a special lunch to all the residents at the old age home. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Shivaleela Sarawad, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Shashikala Mudhol, UG Nursing Tutor, under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi.
