Guest Lecture on Fire Safety, Mock Drill & Disaster Management
BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, organized a Guest Lecture on Fire Safety, Mock Drill & Disaster Management for B.Sc. Nursing students on July 23, 2026, to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in fire prevention and emergency response.
Inaugural Session & Lecture
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, and coordinated by Mrs. Samarin Awati, UG Nursing Tutor. The resource persons, Mr. M. S. Hugar, Station In-charge Officer & Assistant Fire Station Officer, and Mr. T. Y. Bhandari, Leading Fireman, Karnataka State Fire & Emergency Services, Jamkhandi, delivered an informative session on fire safety, disaster preparedness, rescue operations, and emergency management.


Firefighting Demonstration
Following the lecture, Mr. T. Y. Bhandari and his team conducted a live practical demonstration (mock drill) on firefighting and emergency rescue techniques. The demonstration included the proper use of different types of fire extinguishers, safe handling of LPG cylinder fires, rescue procedures, and emergency response protocols.



Students Participate in the Mock Drill
Students actively participated in the mock drill and gained valuable hands-on experience in handling fire emergencies safely and confidently. In his presidential remarks, Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli appreciated the resource persons for sharing their expertise and encouraged the students to apply these life-saving skills in their future nursing practice. The resource persons were felicitated as a token of gratitude and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
