BLDEA'S Nursing Students Gain Practical Exposure at Endoscopy Unit & Operation Theatre
The third-semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi visited the Endoscopy Unit and Operation Theatre (OT) at BLDE (Deemed to be University) Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Vijayapura on July 7, 2026, as part of their clinical learning programme.
Endoscopy Unit Orientation
At the Endoscopy Unit, Dr. Vijayalaxmi, MD (Gastroenterology), explained the various endoscopic procedures, advanced equipment and instruments, the role of nurses during endoscopic procedures, pre- and post-procedure patient care, and infection prevention and safety measures followed in the unit.


Operation Theatre Orientation
During the Operation Theatre visit, Mrs. Sidamma Halimani, OT Incharge, provided a detailed orientation on the OT layout and zoning, universal precautions, surgical instruments and equipment, commonly used drugs, perioperative patient care, and the responsibilities of nurses before, during, and after surgery. Students also gained valuable exposure to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols practiced in the operation theatre.
A total of 39 students participated in the educational visit under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, accompanied by Ms. Aishwarya Awati, UG Nursing Tutor. The college expressed its gratitude to Mrs. Jeyanthi Rajendran, Nursing Superintendent, for extending permission and support for the visit.
