As part of their academic curriculum, 39 Third Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, visited the Blood Bank Centre, Pathology Laboratory, and Biochemistry Laboratory at Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Vijayapura on July 7, 2026.

During the visit, Dr. Satish Arakeri, Blood Bank Officer, and Dr. Bhagyashree, MD, explained blood donation procedures, donor eligibility, blood component separation and storage, blood grouping, cross-matching, and the role of nurses in blood transfusion services.

In the Biochemistry Laboratory, Dr. S. S. Walvekar, Assistant Professor, highlighted the importance of biochemical investigations in disease diagnosis, while Dr. Bhagyashree, PG Faculty, explained specimen processing and diagnostic procedures in the Pathology Laboratory. The experts also familiarized students with specimen collection and handling, laboratory safety measures, quality control practices, and the significance of accurate laboratory reports in effective patient care.

The students were accompanied by Ms. Aishwarya Awati, UG Nursing Tutor, under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi. The college expressed its sincere gratitude to Mrs. Jeyanthi Rajendran, Nursing Superintendent, for her kind support and permission to conduct the educational visit.
