BLDEA'S Nursing Students Visit Biomedical Waste Management Unit
As part of their academic curriculum, 36 Seventh Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi, visited the Biomedical Waste Management Unit at Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Vijayapura, on July 24, 2026.
Orientation on Waste Segregation & Disposal
During the visit, Mrs. Jeyanthi Rajendran, Nursing Superintendent, and Ms. Drakshayani, Nursing Staff, explained the importance of biomedical waste management, different categories of biomedical waste, colour-coding for waste segregation, and the safe collection, segregation, treatment, and disposal of biomedical waste. They also highlighted the role of nurses in infection prevention and safe waste handling practices.

The visit helped students gain practical knowledge and improve their understanding of biomedical waste management in healthcare settings. The students were accompanied by Mrs. Shivaleela Sarawad, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Sahashikala Mudhol, UG Nursing Tutor, under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadrappa G. Mendagudli, Principal, BLDEA'S College of Nursing, Jamkhandi.
